Main Rental Office in Port San Luis Harbor 3915 Avila Beach Drive Kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals are available year round at Avila Beach Paddlesport’s main office, located right on the water in beautiful Port San Luis Harbor. Their office is located at the very end of Avila Beach Drive, right past the RV camping area and Fisherman’s Beach. Launching kayaks and SUPs is a breeze from the protected dock. The Port San Luis Harbor area of Avila Beach is typically sheltered from strong winds and swells, so it is perfect for beginners and families with children (ages 7+). This area is rich with wildlife, including sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, dolphin, and many species of seabirds. Whales are also commonly seen during their annual migration. From the dock, you can discover the kelp beds, paddle to secluded Coast Guard beach (accessible only by boat), explore amazing tidepools, and walk up the public access staircase to the historic Point San Luis Lighthouse. Beginners are welcome and all rentals include PFDs, paddles, and free instruction. Main Beach in Avila (Weather Permitting) Downtown Avila Beach  From April to October, you can rent kayaks and SUPs right on the main beach in Avila. Follow Avila’s boardwalk down toward the playground and look for the rental tent right on the sand. The main beach is a family favorite with something for everyone! Families with children especially enjoy the still waters of the lagoon and San Luis Creek. San Luis Creek snakes along the Avila Beach Golf Course and is a birdwatcher’s paradise. The creek flows year-round, and you can paddle over a mile inland! You can also take kayaks and SUPs into ocean, and if conditions are good, pack a lunch and head to Pirate’s Cove! Port San Luis Harbor Adventure Tour (Kayak and SUP)
 The Port San Luis Harbor Adventure Tour offers the perfect introduction to ocean kayaking and stand up paddling (SUP) on the Central Coast. This tour is a favorite for beginning paddlers, families with children, and wildlife lovers! Learn the basics of paddling in the ocean while exploring the calm, sheltered waters of beautiful Port San Luis Harbor. This tour is not physically demanding, but the beautiful scenery and abundance of wildlife make it a true Adventure! Become a better paddler, learn more about the cultural and natural history of Avila Beach, and spend some time with Avila’s resident sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, dolphins, and seabirds. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a whale! You will learn about Avila’s famous landmarks, such as Whaler’s Island, Smith Island, and Harford Pier. Upon arriving at Lighthouse Beach, you will take a leisurely hike to the lighthouse, where you will be given a private tour lead by your professional guide, who is also a trained historical docent. This tour is only available on Fridays and Sundays and reservations are required.
